outkast-1

The end of 2016 is near and Christmas is finally here. On this day, families everywhere will be tearing gifts open, sharing smiles, and playing Christmas music. In case you’re in the mood for some hip-hop Christmas music, here are the five most memorable Christmas rap songs of all time.

RUN-DMC – “Christmas in Hollis”

“Christmas in Hollis” is the hip-hop song that resonates most during the holiday season. Run and DMC spit verses on the joys of Christmas in Hollis, Queens, New York while Jam Master Jay scratches over the track.

OutKast – “Players Ball” The Original Christmas Version

You would be surprised to find out that OutKast’s debut record, “Players Ball,” was actually a Christmas song. They recorded the song for the 1993 Laface Christmas Album and also used it for their 1993 debut album SOUTHERNPLAYALISTICADILLACMUZIK, minus the Christmas references.

TLC – “Sleigh Ride”

“Sleigh Ride” is another cut that ended up on the 1993 Laface Christmas Album. The three ladies bounce around in the video in classic ’90’s fashion while encouraging us to enjoy the holidays. R.I.P. Left Eye.

Master P – “Christmas In Da Ghetto” Featuring C-Murder

Master P reminds us that even though it’s Christmas day, certain areas of business still have to be handled. Drugs, crime, and the ghetto are at the helm of this bouncy Christmas record. Nonetheless, Master P still manages to count his blessings throughout his verses.

Ludacris – “Ludacrismas”

“Ludacrismas” is a Christmas song from the 2007 comedy Fred Claus. In the song’s opening, Luda outlines his Christmas list, which includes the usual items of material and wealth. “Ludacrismas” is the quintessential ‘hood Christmas tale.
