ET from the Durtty Boyz radio duo (along with his partner J Nicks) has built quite the brand for a radio personality in Atlanta on Hot 107.9. Becoming a part of the top show in the city for the 6-10 p.m. hour with crazy fun segments, it recently came as a shock when he announced his departure from Hot 107.9 to join the iHeartRadio team and have his own syndicated show. Guests were standing in disbelief at the 2 Chainz Ugly Xmas Sweater Party where he made the announcement. When you have maintained 6-plus years on the air as a radio personality, you kind of form this unspoken bond with your listeners and they adopt you as their family, even if it’s only in their head.

What does this mean for the dynamic duo? Well, unfortunately, they won’t be parting together due to contractual legal obligations J Nicks has to Hot 107.9. He may have to stay an additional year with the station. Rolling out was able to sit down with ET and talk about his abrupt departure.

He said, “It wasn’t planned this way; me leaving was not my goal. I got on as a kid with 107.9 and I had a love for that company. My first paycheck wasn’t even on the air; it was in engineering. I was on the air for free for years. I got on in this business by being a dancer. The people let me get away with a lot of things. I did everything there: I slept there; I got in trouble there; I spent the night there and they always still embraced me. However, iHeartRadio is a great progressive company. They are not last to do anything. They went to LA and killed it; went to Vegas, Houston and even here in Atlanta they are doing big things. It’s about a company not afraid to let you soar. I really just want to grow.”
