The rap game belongs to Kendrick Lamar. In less than one month after releasing his latest opus, DAMN has already certified platinum. The album has pushed Lamar into the discussion of being one of the top rappers of all-time. On the first weekend in May, Lamar served as the headlining act of the Rolling Loud festival in Miami.

Lamar, dressed in a black plaid shirt and pants, opened his set with the urgent “DNA.” When performed lived, the Mike Will Made-It produced “DNA” comes off as a spirited sermon on the dangers of sex, lust, and envy. Lamar almost channeled a southern baptist preacher when he rapped, “Tell me when destruction gonna be my fate, gonna be your fate, gonna be our faith, peace to the world, sex, money, and murder our DNA.”

Lamar also performed past hits such as “King Kunta,” “Backstyle Freestyle,” and “M.A.A.D City.” But while Lamar touched on his past hits, he remained focused on DAMN. He peformed “ELEMENT,” “XXX,” “PRIDE,” and “GOD.”

Lamar ended his fiery set with his hit single, “HUMBLE.”
