Hillary Clinton often leaned on first lady Michelle Obama during her unsuccessful run for U.S. president in 2016. Mrs. Obama stumped for Clinton in several cities and even delivered the most memorable speech of Clinton’s entire campaign during the DNC convention.

“Hillary understands that the president is about one thing and one thing only, it’s about leaving something better for our kids. That’s how we’ve always moved this country forward, by all of us coming together on behalf of our children, folks who volunteer to coach that team, to teach that Sunday school class, because they know it takes a village,” Obama said.

Although Obama did everything in her power to help get Hillary Clinton elected, Clinton had not always given that same form of generosity. In fact, Clinton once refused to share the same plane with Obama.

According to an email obtained by Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act, Clinton did not want to share a plane with Mrs. Obama for Betty Ford’s funeral in 2011. In the email exchange with her top aide, Huma Abedin, Clinton discussed the trip to Palm Dessert, California. Clinton agreed to speak at the funeral but insisted that she and Obama take different planes. After asking twice, Abedin agreed to request two planes for the trip.

Clinton’s desire to take separate planes from Mrs. Obama reveals a lot about why Clinton was not an endearing presidential candidate. Sure, she could have done a better job than Trump in the White House, but her personality never galvanized the masses. Clinton’s untrustworthy background has always come back to haunt her. The same woman who once called young Black males “super predators” and pushed for the 1994 Crime Bill, has never been able to overcome those remarks. It was her husband’s bill that eventually led to mass incarceration of Blacks over the past two decades. Moreover, Hillary Clinton also championed welfare reform that eventually doubled extreme poverty for Blacks.

Beyond policy, it shows a consistent character flaw. A flaw that led to the election of the most incompetent U.S. president in history.

So it comes as no surprise that Clinton would refuse to share a plane with Mrs. Obama. Her record of being a warm and trustworthy person has always been sketchy.

Wow…You failed to quite specifics from the actual email. Specifics that would have showed a request–not a demand or refusal to take different plane. You then went on to editorialize her request as something nefarious. This is the kind of “journalism” that proellelled Trump to the most important job in the world. Disgusting!

Maxine Waters is switching to the Republicans because of her.

True. We don’t know if any other circumstances were given for the request to the Clinton aide. That would clearly show if there was some unfounded reason, if it was stated in the article.

This editorial comment is so intellectually lightweight that it is alarming. It’s like trying to build a house with an apple seed. Your well read audience remembers how hard BOTH Clintons worked for Obama once he was the candidate. There are numerous reasons to want to fly in on separate planes. If you want to cover a story, you SHOULD be on top of Byron Allen’s lawsuits to help Blacks gain access to TV network ownership. Putting our own images and goals in front of our youth has always been a problem. We should focus on building ourselves up as opposed to tearing others down Bro.

It’s always been a mass incarceration of blacks in this country, way before the so called “1994 Crime Bill!” The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 opened the door for mass incarceration. This act mandated a minimum sentence of 5 years without parole for possession of 5 grams of crack cocaine while it mandated the same for possession of 500 grams of powder cocaine. This 100:1 disparity was reduced to 18:1, when crack was increased to 28 grams (1 ounce) by the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010. The crime bill in which you’re referring to, US .593, opened the door for the 3 strike law, to which other states implemented their own version of this law for their state. My state, California, implemented their version in March of 1994, known as Proposition 184, which mandates a sentence of 25 to life for serious and violent crimes. To which I won’t go into how much a clusterfuck that was/is. But it’s easy to obtain facts my Brotha, but as a journalist, you need to do better research. It’s enough info out here that been stretched so far from the actual facts that it’s like it’s the norm, you feel me? PEACE!?

@quickdraw Thanks for reading. I fully understand the history of mass incarceration of Blacks from the Vagrancy Laws post-slavery to the Rockefeller Drug Laws to the, aforementioned, Anti-Drug Abuse Act. They were all laws that increased the incarceration rates in Black communities. But over the past 20 years, the impact of the 1994 Crime Bill can’t be ignored. In the 8 years that Clinton was president, the jail population increased from 800,000 to over 1.3 million by the time he left office. Welfare Reform by Clinton also helped to increase poverty in poor Black communities. Hillary could never fully gain the trust of the Black community following those issues and other mistakes she’s made. That’s the point of this piece. Her character flaws eventually led to her losing to the most incompetent person to ever run for president.

Clinton never referred to young black males as superpredators. The superpredator theory, to which she referred, was not specific as to race. It was applied to young white, black, Asian, and Hispanic men who were committing ruthless violent crimes throughout the country during that period.

It was applied to the Howard Beach murderers as well as to other young white men who killed black people or anybody, really. It was also applied to some of the Hispanic gangs that were on the rise in the early ’90s. The theory was intended to explain how a cross section of young men born in the early ’70s became so violent, but it was later debunked. End of story, until it was resurrected along with the claim that Clinton was talking about black men, in a pretty transparent effort to smear Clinton and imply that she was a racist.

And Hillary was not in a position to make policy during her husband’s tenure so the Crime Bill and Welfare reform, both of which were created by Congress, were not her policies. They were not her mistakes. You make the mistake of blaming her for her husband’s behavior, which is ironic given the state of their marriage during that period. Staying with him may have been a mistake, in retrospect. That’s one that she has to own, but she is not to blame for Bill Clinton’s decisions to sign off on these pieces of legislation (one of which, the Crime Bill, had overwhelming support from the Congressional Black Caucus).

Honestly who would want to ride with either one of these obnoxious peasants.
