Tell us about your background. Who is Nikki Noir?

Nikki Noir is simply a dream come true for me. She is a young lady who wanted a presence in the entertainment world that had the gift to observe a need, create a plan, and execute with style and grace.

What is your “Sew & Go” business and what makes it unique?

“Sew & Go” began as an inside joke when visiting home in Detroit and I had family and friends lined up upon my arrival just to get their hair done. However, I was approached by my co-worker Renee, “RJ,” who is now my business partner who said that I should expand. To our surprise, the demand grew and the requested locations have started to multiply. I look forward to what the future holds for us.

Do you specialize in certain hairstyling?

Honestly, I do a little bit of everything;but I specialize in weaves and extensions.

Talk to us about your work as an Indique hairstylist?

Being an Indique partner stylist has been the best blessing ever this past year! I absolutely love the experience, and I’m constantly learning and meeting new people along the way so that’s always a plus. The benefits are endless. They have a great owner, great employees, great referrals, and of course great hair! I couldn’t have asked for a better partnership.

What should women look for in quality hair extensions?

I always say texture. Get what’s closest to your natural texture and what’s going to be the easiest to maintain. Regardless, women should only use 100 percent human hair.

What are your personal tips for healthy natural hair?

Although I love wearing weave, I take pride in making sure my natural hair stays healthy; especially for women like myself who have color. Women should shampoo and condition regularly, deep conditioning treatments once a month, trim ends every 4-6 weeks, and be sure to use products within one system. Try not to mix and match products, as you more than likely won’t get optimal results. Put yourself on a schedule … trust me, it works.

What are you personal tips for healthy relaxed hair?

As far as relaxers, honestly I would suggest the same natural hair routine. Try to only relax when it’s time to do so and or only the portion of hair you’re leaving out if wearing weave, not the whole head.

What do you predict will be a hair trend this summer?

This summer I foresee a lot of braided or twisted styles. Messy, bed head looks are also the new sexy.
