“Working President”
01.23.09
It’s his second day on the job and President Obama is already restructuring the government, and reversing some of Bush’s policies. You got to love Obama because he not only has the resolve to do the right thing he has the balls to do it quickly and confidently. The president has not only outlawed torture of prisoners, but he has also ordered the closing of Guantanamo Bay Prison, which is huge news. Basically with these and a few other key acts Obama has really hit the ground running and I don’t perceive him slowing down for awhile. It seems like our new president might be someone who can succeed in changing America’s Image to the rest of the world for the better.
· I know that presidents come up against opposition and that many of their Ideas don’t come to fruition, but I hope that President Obama can succeed in implementing his. Fin
“New Era”

Well it’s official; Barack Obama has been sworn in as the President of The United States Of America, and it was truly an historical moment. Not only is President Obama the 1st African American president but the way that he rose to power to me was almost magical. Don’t get me wrong I know that the reason that Obama is in the white house is because of a lot of hard work and dedication on his and many others parts, but President Obama is a pretty young guy, and he rose through the ranks at warp speed especially with the obvious obstacles. For this reason among others I believe that this was his destiny if he wanted it, and obviously he did. I can’t help but smile when I think about the fact that I could have been born at any point in the past or the future but my life has brought me to this point to be able to witness, process and discuss this incredible piece of history that may very well be marked as the turning point for this country and indeed even the world, for the greater good of all.
· I’d like to wish President Obama all the best and I would like to wish the same for all of us out here in the world, as we go into the future; together. Fin
“Dream Come True”

Today is a historical day for two reasons one because it is the King Holiday which is a celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and two because this day falls just one day before the inauguration of the first Black President of these United States. Short of world peace, I couldn’t think of a greater birthday gift for Dr. King than electing a deserving brother Like President Obama to the highest office in the land. I wish I could be there but it’s OK because a lot of us will be there and those who cannot will be watching. I think that if Dr. King were alive today there would be a lot of things in the world that he would not be proud of such as the crime and conviction rate in the black community and the hatred and racism that still exists as I write this. I know there would be much he wouldn’t approve of but then again If he were alive maybe these things would be less prevalent; there is no way of really knowing. That being said one thing that I’m pretty sure of is that Dr. King would have been and is very happy that a black man has been elected President of the United States.
· The small picture is that black people have a representative as their President, but on a grander scale this shows that we (humans) have truly advanced as a people. The importance of having a Black president or a Woman President is not just for the sake of Black People or Women, but for the sake of every person on this planet present or future.
· We have a chance to begin a new era in this country that could start a chain reaction that encompasses the world and changes mankind for the better, but we have to act now and truly realize Dr. King’s dream. Fin

President Bush made a farewell speech last night which is a tradition dating all the way back to George Washington who wrote a letter to the American people that was published in the newspapers of the day. Bush walked in to applause from what were probably his supporters and friends and those that weren’t were just glad that this was his “farewell” speech. The speech was short and to the point (about 15 minutes) but the content was the tripped out part. This guy actually got up there and not only defended his questionable actions as president but he actually expressed the many ways in which America was better off than it was before. He talked all the usual crap as if we had never seen nor heard of him before, and he even warned about Americas enemies while taking credit for there being no terrorist attacks on American soil as if he and his policies were the reason. He talked about Obama coming into the Presidency and how historic it is and he wished them well and all of that, but honestly what else could he say and not be a pariah? I don’t believe a word of what George W. bush has said, is saying or will say because in my book he is one of the worst presidents in history and definitely in my lifetime.
· I know it is inevitable but I hope it’s a very long time before another incompetent is installed into the office of Commander In Chief or any other position of real power and influence in this country. fin
“Just a Thought”
01.9.09
I was just sitting around and I either heard on TV or read somewhere that the United States Unemployment rate was above seven percent, and that that was the worst that it had been in something like sixteen years. Then I started to think about the fact that in the last sixteen years we have had two presidents; Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. I then thought about the fact that in the period prior to that the president was George Bush Sr. Basically if you do the math without even looking at anything else you can see an obvious correlation between the presidents and the state of the economy. Basically what it looks like is Bush Sr. left the economy screwed; Clinton fixes it and in the past eight years W. screwed up the economy even more than his pops, though he did have more time.
“Parties Over?”
01.8.09
The G.O.P. or Grand Old Party which basically means Republicans seems to be as weak as it has ever been as of late. It has been pretty well noticed by the media and those that follow politics that the Republican Party is no where near as unified as they used to be. The first time I saw it talked about was when Barack Obama was elected. Right after that it seems like the Republicans started to turn on one another and pointing fingers at one another, even within the same camps.
It would seem that the already weakened Republicans are tearing themselves even further apart; lately over the “Magic negro” issue. Some of the republicans like Rush Limbaugh, and Mark Ellis who is Republican chairman of Maine feel that the song that John “Chip” Satlsman distributed over the holidays is legitimate “political” satire and that there is nothing wrong with it. Interestingly enough Newt Gingrich and some other influential republicans have expressed that they feel that this song was inappropriate and simply in extremely bad taste. This is another issue that has Republicans fighting amongst one another, but contrary to what some people might think this probably isn’t a good thing.
Diversity is one of the keys to our way of life and politics is already one of our least diverse institutions. There are only two serious parties and they aren’t always as different as they may seem. What we don’t want is for there to be only one party. Democrat or Republican, because all types of problems could arise from too much power going to the wrong people, and this could lead to very non Democratic government. Though having only two choices (technically three) isn’t much, suffice it to say that having no choice at all is very Un-American.
· I don’t want people to get the wrong Idea Republican doesn’t mean racist there are racist Democrats just as there are non-racist on both ends, people aren’t perfect, and they can be influenced which is why things such as this must be addressed, by level headed sane people, and not just a bunch of fanatics. According to Asher Roth’s folks over at Biz 3, the MC along with his entourage and other passengers took down a man making bomb threats on plane traveling from ATL to LAX.
According to the L.A. Times:
The unidentified man was aboard Delta Airlines Flight 110, which was approaching Los Angeles, when he got up and stated he had a bomb, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. There was an altercation with multiple passengers, who ultimately subdued the man with plastic ties. At one point he tried to exit through one of the aircraft doors after the flight landed at LAX.

Finally, MTV got something right. We already know how great (the smile of sarcasm on my face is bigger than Rod Blagojevich’s hate mailbox) MTV and VH-1 are putting “Top” Hip-Hop list together. Anway, these fools finally got it with their artists to watch in 2009. Granted there are only a few, so it was damn-near impossible for them to mess this one up. By the way, MTV where are the women? They rap too! And good I might add. Props to Asher, Wale, KiD CuDi, Charles, Hamilton and B.O.B. Though I’ve done features on a few of you already, we’ll have you all in Rolling Out very soon!

Oscar J. Grant III, 22, was shot in the back and killed by 27-year-old Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police officer Johannes Mehserle early on New Year’s Day. His family has since filed a $25-million wrongful death claim against the agency Tuesday.
Enough is enough! Mr. Officer, please stop killing us!
Spotted Ignorance: Someone tell Shawty Lo to get a life
01.6.09

I’m convinced Shawty L-O’s tireless anti-T.I. campaign is publicity stunt since dude can’t use actual rhyme skills to sell records and stay relevant. This shit here though takes the cake. Like seriously, does claiming Bankhead’s thrown really make you want to create awful displays of graphic arts and make yourself look like more of a fool? Honestly, I like Lo, but I like him more when he’s more concerned with his own music and not using already established stars to promote it.
