Lupe Fiasco Dogs Obama’s Acceptance Speech
11.7.08

Ok, so Lupe Fiasco has shown signs of historical ignorance before (google Lupe v.s. A Tribe Called Quest), but this one takes the cake. Quite frankly, Lupe is starting to worry me a bit. First it was the Fiascogate thing at the past VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors, then all of this “my last album” shit — Lupe’s starting to lose his luster outside of the music. Lupe was recently interviewed by Big Tigger after the celebration Tuesday night in Grant Park and Mr. Kick, Push once again proved that he’s not devoid of the ability to say some dumb shit. Listen to this and let commenting begin.

YES WE DID!

The comment listed above as the headline for Lupe’s comments is proof that our media is part of the problem here in “our” country. Lupe’s message is the message you should have commented about, becoming active in your community. This is an urban publication, how about restructuring our purposes and efforts to support the positive which occured. Lupe expressed that Obama’s speach didnt impress him, that should not have prompted you as a publication outlet to act as if Lupe offended you/us, deserving a “say some dumb shit” label. Step it up a notch. What about the positive? What are you doing in your position there for this rollingout, to comment about the issues that our people face? Huh? Reporting on “dumb shit”, aye? Issues, concerns. Not personal business of artists, stripping and rephrasing things to make YOU out to look good just for catching the words. Please dont take this as a personal hit towards you, but to the general media whose reporting is not in line with the highest good. Our media is corrupt enough, instead of calling people dumb, (as your Editor mentioned an athlete was for not participating in the National Athem), dig deep and find out WHY a person would comment as they do. Without your personal judgement, first. Commentary is secondary after the facts are revealed. This would encourage dialogue about the many issues that are effecting our generation and further, the children that we currently interact with and whom are learning from us. If this is a BLACK media outlet, then let’s get on our shit, take the higher road, encourage the dialogue and awareness that needs to happen to make our hoods a better place. Even if your thinking the hood is not your problem to solve, black is black and we need to find our own solutions, instead of negatively commenting, adding fuel to non-unity, which has existed for eons.

Respect the Moment and keep your private thouhts PRIVATE!

It wouldn’t be “COOL” if President-Elect Obama went on national television and hated on your album, and it’s not “COOL” for you to hate on a fellow Chi-Town Favorite!
