Palin In Comparison
11.12.08
One thing that I knew was going to happen once Barack Obama was elected was that the Republican Party would start pointing fingers at each other and they are doing just that. When John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate everyone said he was nuts; everyone democrat that is, and now all of a sudden since he lost, even republicans are trying to blame the loss on Palin.
The thing about the Sarah Palin situation is that no matter how likable people thought she was going to be no one thought about her real qualifications as pertaining to leading a nation. It was obvious to Republicans as well as Democrats, but the Democrats were the ones that could openly say it. The republicans on the other hand had to stand together and act like McCain’s decision was the right one. The only problem is that now that the election is over McCain says that he didn’t chose Sarah Palin himself, but was basically talked into it. Of course in my book the addition of Palin was a sad attempt to gain support of women voters and Clinton supporters.
I don’t know about everyone else but I would never want to run for an office like President of the United States and not be in charge of my own campaign especially when it comes to the big stuff like choosing my Vice President. That is simply one thing that I would do based on my own mind, period. This along with several other things lets me know that the choice that we made for president was the right one. If you look at McCain’s speeches it seemed as if he was becoming more and more mentally fatigued. It could have been the stress of the campaign true enough but it would seem that the stress of being President is much worse than that, and who’s to say he could handle that. I don’t question McCain’s ability to lead because of any one thing such as his age or his running mate but when you add together all of his mistakes and shortcomings then you see that the risk outweighs the perceived possible benefits, which are simple criteria for making a sound choice in any arena. I believe John McCain to be a great man and an American hero but that doesn’t mean he should lead this nation, and because Sarah Palin is a “good mother” doesn’t mean she is qualified to back that lead.
To all of the Republicans and people who are still in denial, John McCain didn’t lose because of Sarah Palin, and he didn’t lose because age; he lost because Barack Obama was the better choice for America, period.
