It’s here. Today, Jan. 21, 2013 marks the 57th presidential inauguration, and the second in which our first black president, Barack Obama, will be sworn into the Oval Office. It is also an especially significant day because this year marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic March on Washington where he delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream Speech.” In his honor, President Obama has requested to be sworn in using Dr. King’s travel Bible.

While we are enjoying the inaugural activities and participating in service projects around the country, as part of Martin Luther King Jr. observation day, we should consider winding down and snuggling up with a good book.

Here, we’ve highlighted five of the best books to read on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. –yvette caslin
