OWN Network’s Endyia Kinney-Sterns to provide insight on creating TV content

After receiving tremendous feedback from TV and film enthusiasts based in Atlanta, Angela Hutchinson (Breaking into Hollywood) decided to present a networking opportunity for aspiring actors, writers, producers and directors. On Nov. 23, her nonprofit will host an event that will feature OWN Network’s Endyia Kinney-Sterns.


Kinney-Sterns, vice president of programming and development for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, will provide insight on how scripted and reality TV shows are developed and produced; auditioning tips; and how to take your film/TV idea to the next level.


Hutchinson recently spoke with rolling out about the event and how people can get involved.

What can attendees expect to learn from this event?  


Attendees will get an inside look at how scripted and unscripted TV shows are created and produced.  They will also learn the dos and don’ts of pitching a show to an executive.

Why was it important to get Endyia Kinney-Sterns to be a part of this event?

Endyia is an amazing speaker with a plethora of knowledge about the TV business. Even though she currently works for the Oprah Winfrey Network, she has worked for BET, TV One and other networks.

What type of insight does she bring? 

As a vice president at OWN, Endyia will give attendees tips and advice on how to go about creating or producing a show as well as insider information on how to pitch a television show concept, what a sizzle reel is, along with programming slate at OWN as well as advice for individual audience members that ask specific questions.

How has  TV changed over the years, in terms of scripted and unscripted programming?   

Unscripted television is becoming popular now more than ever. Reality TV is more than just talent based competition shows but networks are picking up an increasing number docu-series. Participants will also learn more about the various types of unscripted programming.
