Jeremiah Bishop Goes From Unemployed to Successful Fashion Photographer
Five years ago, Jeremiah Bishop was the guy nobody wanted to talk to, and for good reason: “I was a general manager at a bill collection agency,” Bishop tells rolling out. “When the economy crashed and tanked, nobody was paying bills, so I had to find something else to do. And I always liked to take pictures; I was a camera phone picture specialist.”
Today Bishop is a fashion photographer in high demand, and owns Phinally Phocused photography. The entrepreneur spoke to rolling out about how he went from jobless to limitless.
How did you make the transition from your day job to your fantasy job?
My friend, Charan Ingram, is a great Web designer, and he had gotten into photography, and Adobe Photoshop. Charan took me under his wing, and showed me a couple of tricks. I purchased a camera, Cannon Access, the bottom of the line, and I just fell in love with it.
Photography became a passion of mine and I started to study lighting techniques, makeup techniques, the kind of photography that I wanted to do, which is mostly high fashion. I do a lot of commercial work as well.
