Black Alumni Reunion at Penn State Kicks Off With Pioneers and Legends Dinner

Hundreds of black alumni converged at Penn State University for the 2012 Black Alumni Reunion. The weekend of festivities, which culminated around the annual spring “Blue-White” football game, began with the Pioneers and Legends Dinner at the Nittany Lion Inn in State College, Pennsylvania.
Rolling out was on hand as several alumni received awards for their amazing contributions.
Award recipients included Lincoln Hall Residents 1939-1949 (First African-American ‘residence hall’ at Penn State – Wally Triplett ’49 and Clayton Wilson III ’49); AKA/Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Delta Gamma Chapter (First African American sorority at Penn State); H. Jesse Arnelle (First African American on Penn State’s Board of Trustees); Cynthia A. Baldwin (First African American president of the Penn State Alumni Association); Guy Bluford (First African American in Space); and Charles T. Davis (First tenured faculty member at Penn State).–amir shaw
