The 2011 Infiniti QX56 a Serious Contender

The 2011 Infiniti QX56 is in stiff competition for the heavyweight title of best large luxury SUV. With the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator being the crowd favorites in the U.S., competition is stiff but the QX56 is a tough competitor. With interior upgrades, more horsepower under the hood while increasing fuel efficiency the 2011 QX56 is prepared to throw more punches as opposed to dancing around the ring and clinching in the corners.

The 2011 Infiniti QX56 has a new interior design this year. This SUV is as luxurious as any SUV on the market today. It still has a third row seat, but the 2011 QX56 has a more modern design with obvious technological upgrades. Infiniti didn’t skimp on the upholstery material either; the QX56 boasts a lot of leather and wood on the inside to give that hyper-luxury feel. When comparing the interior of the QX56 to other SUV’s in this category, it definitely has the competition on the ropes.

The exterior of the 2011 Infiniti QX56 stays true to Infiniti’s pursuit of excellence in styling. Body-wise this SUV is ready to take it on the chin and go toe-to-toe with other vehicles in this weight class. The front is a little more rounded with a massive grill that has the classic Infinity logo dead center. The chrome ports on the front fenders are great accents and add that classic feel to the QX56 exterior. The rear of the QX56 still has that smooth line, however it’s a little more angular. It sports a spoiler for improved aerodynamics, but aesthetically it’s pleasing to the eye. The rest of the QX56’s rear is that classic conservative Infinity look, with a chrome trim above the handle of the rear door and the Infinity logo in the center.

Even though the 2011 Infiniti QX56 is still powered by a 5.6 liter V-8, it has been re-invigorated by a direct fuel injection system to increase its punching strength from 320 to 400 horsepower. What’s even more impressive about this heavyweight is the 10 precent increase in fuel efficiency by switching from a 5- to 7-speed automatic transmission.  This is sure to make its driver happier as the rounds progress.
