Cadillac ATS wins industry awards in luxury car segment

Cadillac’s revitalization and reemergence as an industry leader in the luxury car space is complete.

The 2013 Cadillac ATS luxury sport sedan has collected a number of industry awards this past year as it was voted the North American Car of the Year, and award that was given out at the annual North American International Auto Show in Detroit.


In addition, the ATS compact luxury sedan won the 2013 “Best Luxury Car of the Year” award from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).


For the NACY award, A jury of 50 automotive journalists considered every new car released in the past year and the award was announced at a press conference opening the 25th annual NAIAS.cadillac ats

“This is a very meaningful honor for the entire Cadillac team, especially the men and women who build the ATS in Lansing, Michigan, and our dedicated and talented designers and engineers,” said Bob Ferguson, General Motors’ vice president, global Cadillac. “A car like ATS is the result of incredible commitment and focus. That’s the only method for creating a great performing luxury car.”


The ATS’ Canadian award signifies its new dominance in the North American continent.

“This award confirms the all-new ATS was designed and built to compete and win in the compact luxury segment,” said Neil Macdonald, vice president of corporate affairs at GM Canada. “This recognition by over 80 of Canada’s top automotive media is testament to Cadillac setting the standard of the world for luxury cars.”

It is hands down the lightest and quickest Cadillac of its kind thanks to 3,400 pounds or 1,542 kg in base trim. The car includes a 2.0-liter engine with 270-horsepower and comes in either a six-speed automatic or manual.
