Jessica Lucas doesn’t mind being covered in vomit and blood, just don’t ask her to join Hollywood’s “superficial” in crowd. The 27-year-old native of Vancouver, Canada, would rather enjoy the art of filmmaking than frolick on the Hollywood party scene.

“I’ve been in America for four years,” Lucas revealed during an interview in Beverly Hills, Calif. “It took a long time to get used to. L.A. can be very superficial and it’s hard to meet cool people here. I try to stay away from the glitzy side of the business and have a normal life as much as possible. I keep to myself.”

That focus and discipline have allowed Lucas to position herself as one of the top up-and-coming actresses in Hollywood. Lucas got her big break in America after auditioning and appearing on Showtime’s hit show, “The L Word” in 2004. She later joined the cast of  “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and starred in the reboot of “Melrose Rose.”

But it was Lucas’ roles in Cloverfield (2008) and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011) that allowed her to gain prominent standing on the big screen.

Lucas delves into gore in her latest film, Evil Dead, discusses life in Canada, her love for horror and how she mentally prepared for being drenched in blood for days while on the set.
