It has been called the slap heard around the world. NYPD announced the arrest of four people involved in a violent fight on a New York City subway train. The video shows  Danay Howard, 21, insulting fellow passenger  Jorge Pena, 25, over his out of fashion red, white, and black “8 Ball* leather jacket popular in the early 1990s.

In the video, Howard is heard saying “You got a bum a– eight ball jacket that came out in 1990… Get your money up, simple” along with other insults.

Howard was traveling with a group of female friends who encouraged her behavior. At one point, the person recording the incident was noticed by the group of rowdy females. The women jump up from their seat, knock the phone from the man’s hands at least twice, and continue with their obnoxious behavior. A few moments later, a voice identified as Pena’s is heard calling Howard a “dirty b—-.” Howard is then seen on camera saying “What did you call me?” as she swings a leopard-print high-heeled shoe and hits Pena in the head. Pena responds with the now famous slap across Howard’s face, which knocks her back several feet. Soon all the women and another man exchange blows with Pena, as a wild fight ensues.

Howard and Pena were arrested at the W. 4th St. subway station along with Kevin Gil, 21, and Shanique Campbell, 20. Pena, Gil, and Campbell were charged with misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct. Howard was charged with felony assault for using a weapon, in this case her shoe, in the attack.

The video footage was uploaded to YouTube this past Saturday and has had more than 600,000 views. It has quickly become the slap heard around the Internet. The video can be seen below:
