If you don’t know you just should! Detroit’s famed African World Festival has move moved from its long-time home on the River at Hart Plaza to a much more charming and accommodating location on the grounds of the Charles Wright Museum of African American History and now on it’s 30th anniversary the celebration is bigger and more illustrious than ever. From African Tai Chai and yoga lessons, to the master quilt exhibitions to the Greek Step show exhibitions, all things African are represented here saiand for the duration of the Aug. 18-19 weekend.

And of course the music … it is Detroit after all! From African dance and Motown legends — to col0rful fabrics and magnificent  art and handmade crafts — it’s all here and its all authentic. And the best part the immense spirit of camraderie.

As Congressman John Conyers said during Detroit’s African World Festival of the new location this is the place to be and it [the Charles Wight Museum of African American History] is the rightful home for this event. -roz edward
