U.S. Army staff sergeant Terry Achane, 31, of Texas is in the fight of his life. He’s seeking to reverse a decision his wife made independently of him while he was out of town on a job assignment. His wife, Tira, was pregnant with his first-born daughter, whom he hoped to name Teleah, when he left to work out of state in Fort Jackson, S.C. When Achane, a drill instructor, returned 10 days later, he found out his wife had delivered prematurely and signed their daughter over to Jared and Kristi Frei, of Spanish Fork, Utah.

What do their colors have to do with this story?

Exactly what I was thinking. I’ve read several articles on this story, and this is the ONLY one to bring race to the forefront of the issue. Give me a break.

Here’s the adoptive folks blog: http://frei-adoption.com/Frei/Leah.html (I think they
need to receive emails about how stealing and kidnapping is wrong.)
They are refusing to give the baby back, although the judge has ordered
them to do so. They have 60 days (from the time of the ruling) and I
think that’s too long. They obviously feel they’re better for this child
than the child’s black daddy. Out of control on the part of the mother,
adoption agency and adoptive parents. These adoptive parents knew this
father would probably search for his child and decided to go through
with it anyway. INSANE! Just give the baby back TODAY!

This mother did not want to be tied down with a baby so she decided to give it away without telling the father…..she was married to the father. She should have given the child to him since we see she did not want it. The courts should give this child to his father. This is a gross injustice for this child to grow up thinking that her father don’t want her

Are you saying it would have been okay if she gave the baby to black parents?

She needs to go back to her Father and the Freis need to be threatened with prosecution if they do not do so, the Mother needs to be charged as well, and the adoptive agency ALSO needs to be charged. ALL 3 of them committed illegal acts in allowing this ‘adoption’ to occur.
Leah’s best interest is to be with her Father. It is BAD enough that she will now know her Mom didn’t want her, but by God, she will never ever question her Dad’s love for her. This family has 5 other adopted kids, they do this to make a living. She will grow up with a loving family on her Dad’s side, and be cherished by blood relatives…. and for the record, a black girl growing up in a white family would NOT have the easiest of lives, that alone would be enough to emotionally scar her in some way.

OMG. I just went to the blog, and I HAVE to say MORE. They are asking for donations! People have donated $22,000! WTF. There is a picture of Leah’s Mom on that front page in the hospital!!!!!! These people are not right mentally!

This seems to a serious issue.. The husband should have been informed about this before taking this decision..
