Dating website for cheaters

 Victoria Milan

A whopping 67 percent of unfaithful people use their smartphone for sexting their lovers

Even as they rely more and more on mobile devices as a tool of convenience, people are growing wary of how their data can be shared and viewed — none more than those who choose to cheat. Hence, the  iCloud hacking scandal.

A recent survey conducted by Victoria Milan, one of the top dating websites for those looking for affairs, polled their 10,000 members and discovered two-thirds (67 percent) of users use their smartphones to contact their lovers — but more than 80 percent are afraid that their device’s data will end up in the wrong hands.

By an overwhelming margin, 74 percent of respondents professed an “intimate relationship” with their smartphone, even if they chose not to use it as a tool for cheating. Of those who did choose to do so, sexting, back-and-forths with their lover, or erotic chats via public social networks were common, despite the risk.

However, nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of those surveyed said they preferred to log in to specific sites, such as Victoria Milan, to go about their affairs more discreetly. Combined with the fear of exposure through open smartphone cheating, this statistic points to a new awareness of “big data” and the new global security-conscious mindset, which has extended even to something as visceral as romance.

“Recent events, such as the Snowden leaks and ‘Facebook firings,’ have awakened people to the fact that privacy is the new luxury,” says Sigurd Vedal, founder and CEO of Victoria Milan.

“Sometimes, it seems like everything we do is categorized, scrutinized, and shared. But when it comes to our personal lives, we crave intimacy, and it’s hard to be sexually open with another person when we’re always looking over our shoulders or worrying about an accidental public post. That’s why I founded Victoria Milan: to give people a chance to be themselves without fear. That’s the difference between a dating site that takes our clients’ confidentiality seriously and public data plans and wide-open social networks.”
