Another wave of violence has taken place in New York City this morning now that multiple people have been shot near the Empire State building. CBS 2 reports that at least 3 people were shot early Friday and a large police presence is currently on the scene. The shooting happened near the intersection of 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue. Police now confirm that two people, including the gunman, are dead after at least four people were shot. As many as 10 people were taken to area hospitals. Police say a stampede erupted after shots rang out. A law-enforcement official told local news that the shooting did not appear to be terror-related and may have been the actions of a disgruntled employee who worked inside the building.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the gunman’s wound was self-inflicted or if the suspect was shot by police.
