Gerard Smith continues to be a leading voice in the sneaker community with his blog, The Shoe Game. On Sept. 13, Smith and The Shoe Game will team up with Mike and Dave Pazmino for Kixfair Premiere Sneaker Convention at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded by the Pazmino brothers, Kixfair will be a sneaker convention that goes beyond the trade and selling of exclusive sneakers.

Kixfair will feature guests speakers, a custom sneaker competition, Madden 14 tournament, NBA 2K14 tournament, and other games, prizes and giveaways.

Smith recently spoke with rolling out about Kixfair and revealed his choice for the best sneakers of 2014.

What is the basis behind Kixfair?

Kixfair is designed to provide a safe, fun and interactive way for sneaker enthusiasts to get together and see, learn and even obtain hard to find sneakers.

How was Kixfair created?

Kixfair was created because the city of Atlanta did not get any frequent national sneaker events. And the events that would come would always be subpar. I started by simply reaching out to local sneaker enthusiasts and built up through word of mouth and social media.

What will make Kixfair stand out when considering other sneaker festivals and conventions?

What makes us different from other shows is our attention to detail and care for both our attendants and vendors. We try to provide everyone with a fun and positive experience at our events.

How does the sneaker community in Atlanta compare to other prominent cities nationwide?

The Atlanta sneaker community compares well with that of other cities like New York City or Chicago. Those cities are more nationally recognized as sneaker cities. But with an event like Kixfair, we hope to bring Atlanta into that conversation.

What have been the three most anticipated sneakers of 2014 thus far and why?

Everyone has their own sneakers that they anticipate. Personally, I feel 2014 has been a down year with releases. But I am anticipating the Air Jordan 11 “Columbia” that is set to release in December. When considering the popular opinion of releases, I would say the Red October Yeezy 2, Air Jordan 11 Low “Concord” and the Air Jordan 6 “Carmine.” The way the culture is now, whatever is releasing this weekend is all of a sudden the most anticipated release of the year.
