Leave it to today’s social media to point out the injustice that most news outlets won’t. While the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri has sparked protests and demonstrations around the world, the mainstream media seems to be treating this as just another robbery-shooting debacle. Brown, Trayvon Martin and many others before who have felt the wrath of unjust officers are usually pegged as thugs or shown in a negative light once it reaches television. While others on the internet may see different sides to these young men and others, it seems as if the media always chooses the worst photos of young black men.

On Instagram, #IfIWasGunnedDown revealed that nearly everyone- regardless of race or color has a photo online that may not cast them in such a positive light, but does that mean you should judge them negatively? Does one picture sum up the character of one person? Check out a few photos shared in support of Brown while people wondered, “What picture would they show if was gunned down?”
