Since the murder of Trayvon Martin, a number of celebrities have cried out for justice for the 17-year-old Florida teen. Surprisingly however, there are still a few who have yet to give their opinion.

While artists like Common, Mos Def and even Plies are doing their part to at least bluff like they care about Martin’s murder, six of the biggest acts in hip-hop have yet to utter a word.

Here are six people who could and should speak out about the murder of Trayvon Martin.

Danielle Canada. Smh. If these people voiced their feelings about Trayvon Martin’s death, you probably would say ” at least [they] bluff[in] like they care about Martin’s murder.”

This article amazes me on so many levels.  Are we acting as if celebs are the reason we should jump on any bandwagon?  What about the millions of people who go in silence until it becomes popular to support a cause?  What about the media outlets who don’t pick up stories until it can no longer be ignored, simply BECAUSE celebrities mention them?  We forget that celebs are people and if we want to demonize them for not speaking up, then we need to look in the mirror and see how often we have sat idly by while an injustice has been committed in our lives and that of others.  Treyvon Martin is not the first black teen male to be murdered in American.  It happens daily and often at the hands of other teen black males.  Where’s the DAILY public outcry about that?  Is Rolling Out willing to do the research and put up a running tally to remind us daily of how many of our young men are being murdered?  Better yet, keep a running tally of how many are incarcerated…just as Times Square reminds us of the Nation’s Debt.  Oh, but, I guess it’ s much easier to sit behind a desk and write an article that you hope will draw traffic to the site. What about a number to remember all of Treyvon’s Rolling Out?

That was MY reaction to the Treyvon Martin indecent. Why is White on Black crime a major issue for us while Black on  Black crime (even killing innocent babies) is tolerated?

i like fk-canada & kettleblack comments, this artical was wrote as if the writer is critizing some rappers for saying something & also critizing the rappers who ain’t saying nothing, so like kettleblack said to write artical just to attrack readers is wrong, so you make yourself look bad, so my messege to you daniell write what what you feel and not what you think you should write, let the other writers protend to be anderson cooper or somebody like that cause we are sick of they point of view. so daniell be the writer you always wanted to be not what you think they want you to be, and you will go along ways, and remember that realtalk has spoken to you daniell God bless you and i look forward to seeing daniell become a big time news writer GOOD LUCK !

Artists like Common, Mos Def and even Plies have always spoke out for our community; and more specifically Common and Mos Def have always been great examples of young black artists that have contributed empowering music to our black youth.  To say that they “at least bluffed” about caring about Trayvon is quite out of line.  If no one said anything, that would be different. Half of the celebrities mentioned hardly speak out on anything heavy in the black community anyway… too busy being N*ggaz in Paris….

  • Frustrated

I agree with most the posts here. First off, why would I, as a celebrity want to speak out if all the media is going to do is say I’m taking advantage of this tragedy or faking my support? And why do we as a society need to have celebrities tell us what we should be supporting? There is so much black on black crime every single day, yet it doesn’t get reported. And this is because of reporters like you, Danielle Canada. Try reporting on something worth people’s time then what rappers haven’t commented on something.
