Marriage Trend: Why the CEO Marries the Secretary
Single professional women may not find a husband in the CEO suite. So what's a sister to do?

Marriage Trend: You’re at the top of your game, and you’re ready to start a family. You go, girl.

You have the degrees on your wall. You have a career you enjoy. You have the professional accolades and authentic Gucci shades, and no one can resist your swagger.

You probably have the hot-career, cold bed affliction as well.

So, where’s your husband? You know, that dreamboat Brother that you were supposed to bump into on your way up the corporate ladder? Marriage trends defy you; chances are the men who are in your league have married the lady that waits on him at his favorite diner. Or, perhaps he’s married the lady who answers the phone at his office. Or, even the lady who cares for his children when he’s out of town.

Marriage Trend defined: In the bluntest of terms, the high profile men in your circle are marrying the help and this is nothing new.
Several years ago, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd explained the marriage trend:

“I’d been noticing a trend along these lines, as famous and powerful men took up with the young women whose job it was to tend to them and care for them in some way: their secretaries, assistants, nannies, caterers, flight attendants, researchers and fact-checkers.

Women in staff support are the new sirens because, as a guy I know put it, they look upon the men they work for as “the moon, the sun and the stars.” It’s all about orbiting, serving and salaaming their Sun Gods.”

So, what do these women know about snagging a man of power that professional women don’t?
