Hip-hop superproducer Swizz Beatz has been Global Ambassador for New York City Health and Hospital Corporation since 2012, and the philanthropic star was in East Harlem, N.Y., this week to dedicate an original piece of artwork to the Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility. Titled “Victory,” Swizz said that he wanted to inspire the staff and patients at the facility, who in turn, should serve as inspiration for everyone.

“Just hearing the stories of the amazing patients and people that are here — it took me to another level today,” he said. “We all think we have problems, but when you see someone that you know [has] bigger problems, but their inner [light] is shining brighter than ever — that’s the most important thing.

“Things could be a lot different in all of our lives, in the blink of a second. I titled this one ‘Victory,’ because when you believe in yourself, knowing the sky is not the limit, but just the view…the end result is victory. That goes for everyone.”

“It will heal, comfort and inspire our patients and residents and their families and our staff,” said Dr. Robert K. Hughes, executive director for the Henry J. Carter hospital. “Thank you so much for your generosity and sharing yourself with us.”

Dr. Ram Raju, HHC president, also took the time to thank Swizz for his contribution and his dedication to his role of Global Ambassador.

“He’s really done a phenomenal job,” said Dr. Raju to Swizz. “Thank you for believing in us.”
