Harold Ekeh will have the choice of attending any Ivy League school of his choice. The 17-year-old senior, who currently attends Elmont High School in New York, was accepted to all eight Ivy League schools.

Ekeh and his family moved to America from Nigeria when he was 8 years old. His college essay detailed how he initially struggled to adjust to a new culture and deal with his grandmother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

It took a while for him to adjust to this country’s culture, but he was able to find success in education and extracurricular activities.

Ekeh earned a 100.5 percent grade point average and speaks Igbo and Spanish. He also earned a spot as a 2015 Intel Science Talent Search semifinalist and participated in academic mentoring programs.

Along with being accepted to every Ivy League school, Ekeh was also accepted to Johns Hopkins and MIT. He plans to become a neurosurgeon.

In 2014, Oakland, California, native Kwasi Enin was also accepted to all eight Ivy League schools.

According to Business Insider, admissions rates for Ivy League schools are: Harvard (5.3 percent); Columbia University (6.1 percent); Yale University (6.49 percent); Princeton (6.9 percent); Brown University (8.4 percent); University of Pennsylvania (9.9 percent); Dartmouth College (10.3 percent); and Cornell University (14.9 percent), respectively.
