BET’s ’106 & Park’ Ending This Week?
Few shows have grown to reflect the essence of BET better than its iconic video countdown series, “106 & Park,” which has served as the network’s shining glory for the last 12 years. But last night, rumors began swirling that the end is near for “106 & Park” as BET is preparing to cancel the show this week.
Back in May, the show’s longtime hosts, Rocsi Diaz and Terrence J, announced that they would be leaving the show in the coming months to pursue new ventures. Diaz plans on pursuing a career in entertainment and Terrence recently became Ryan Seacrest’s replacement as the co-host of “E! News” with Guiliana Rancic.
But despite the network’s high-profile search for new hosts, Global Grind reported yesterday that an insider at BET said that the show would be going off the after its last show this Friday, Sept. 21.
The report quickly caused a media frenzy, with fans clamoring to confirm the news and others sounding off their joy or pain about the show’s rumored end.
But after catching wind of the rumors, “106 & Park” and BET’s president, Stephen Hill, both took to Twitter to deny the rumors.
Well, it looks like “106” is here to stay and it won’t have to meet the unfortunate fate of these other famously cancelled shows below. –nicholas robinson
