How long have you been a deejay?

I have loved music forever and was introduced to the art of deejaying during the summer of 1986.

Describe your deejaying style.

I adjust my DJ style based on the needs of my clients but I personally would categorize myself as a “pure party DJ.”

How is deejaying profitable from a business standpoint?

Although nontraditional, deejaying is definitely a business and one must be profitable to maintain. I am professional in this business and charge a premium price for the services I provide.

How did mixtapes change hip-hop?

The art of a mixtape has certainly evolved over the years as an effective outlet for artist to be heard.   The new deejay-hosted mixtapes allow for more focus on the artist and truly gives the deejay greater importance in being able to highlight his or her DJ skills and break songs.    I prefer to release mixtapes the old-school way where I gather a selection of hit songs or what I believe will soon be hit songs, then creatively compile them to deliver a pleasurable listening experience for my supporters.

Top three mixtapes of all time?

1.  Lil Wayne – No Ceilings

2. Curren$y – Pilot Talk

3. Young Jeezy – Trap or Die Vol. 1

Five songs that will get the party started?

1.  Juvenile – “Back That A– Up”

2. Jay-Z – “Public Service Announcement”

3. LMFAO – “Shots”

4. Biggie – “Hypnotize”

5. Chalie Boy – “I Look Good!”

Five songs that will help partygoers meet their significant other?

1.  R Kelly – “12 Play”

2.  Usher – “Lovers & Friends”

3.  Jodeci – “Feenin”

4.  Maxwell – “Fortunate”

5.   Trey Songz – “Jupiter Love”

What is the future of the deejay?

Overall, I am confident that deejays will continue to gain greater importance in all aspects of the music business. The deejay has always been the heart of the party and pulse of the music business. Unfortunately, the deejay’s importance was not respected and recognized until recent years. #SALUTE THE DJ’s!!
