Django Unchained pushed the envelope by presenting slavery in a way that’s never been captured on film. However, Quentin Tarantino and the Weinstein Company are looking to gain more profits from their film about America’s worst travesty.

According to reports, Django Unchained action figures in the likeness of actors Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Remar and Christoph Waltz are being sold on Amazon.com.

In the aftermath from the film’s racy content, the action figures may make situations worse. Some will see the toys as another form of profiting from the pain of slavery among a race of people who were subjected to it for 400 years.

On the other hand, will we ever see dolls that depict individuals from the Holocaust?

Share your thoughts. Would you allow your children to play with dolls dressed as slaves, or is it just another cool marketing tool?

These are action figures from a movie set during slavery. In and of themselves they have nothing to do with slavery. Perhaps if they were random figures meant to represent actual slaves…but these are characters. Though they are ‘ action figures’, I suspect they are intended to sit on shelves as collector’s items for fanboys and girls. Given that the movie is a hard R, I’m trying to figure out what kid would be familiar enough with them to want to play with them. As to the idea of Holocaust ‘ action figures, he could very easily have done the same thing with some of the character’ s in Inglorious Basterds in which a Jewish guy with a baseball bat got to kill all kinds of Nazi ass. For all I know that character does have an ‘ action figure.’

If they are to sit on shelf like the Gone with the Wind Barbies etc. that would be okay. Not for children to play with. Children can’t even watch this movie. Just think though, when this movie comes on dvd we might be in trouble when teens start watching it. But really it is not on the level of Gone with the Wind etc. It’s a new movie.
