It was quite a treat to have an intimate lunch with pop sensation Emeli Sandé who hails from the U.K. Once this writer landed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, it was full speed ahead to the SOHO House, a private members’ club for those in film, media and creative industries in West Hollywood, for an exclusive luncheon hosted by Lincoln Motor Company.

During the invitation-only 2015 Lincoln MKC Launch luncheon Shawn Thompson, Lincoln multicultural marketing manager, praised Sandé for her vocal prowess saying, “We’re so honored that you’ve [collaborated with] the Lincoln brand.” In coming weeks, fans will have the opportunity to see Sandé in a Lincoln commercial where she’ll speak about unconditional love.emeli sande on the mic rsz

Sandé offers, “Everybody want to know love. Not necessarily a romantic relationship … but some kind of love. Hopefully the music will last [forever.]”

On her talent…
“When my fingers touch the [piano] keys, I can speak 10 different languages. The piano is the best instrument in the world.

Later in the evening, Sandé was honored at Essence’s 5th Annual Black Women in Music, a premiere pre-Grammy Awards event held at 1OAK LA (short for One of a Kind). She performed hits “Next to Me,” a song about love, loyalty and good men, “My Kind of Love,” and also special track for God, the architect of her life whom she cherishes, among other smooth singles.emeli sande on stage rsz

Celebrities in attendance included Chrisette Michele, Joe Morton, Ledisi, Vivica Fox, Chef Roblé, Ty Hunter, Kelli Price, Nicci Gilbert, Liv Warfield, Bridget Kelly, Kelis, Beverly Bond, Sevyn Streeter, Goapele and Erica Campbell.

DJ Kiss closed the event with a dynamic set that lured Lincoln’s Thompson, BET’s Stephen Hill and actress Nadine Ellis to the dance floor for nearly a half hour: from fingers snapping, 80s and 90s dance moves resurfacing to feet skipping to every beat, it was a treat to witness.
