With a successful singing and acting career under her belt, a Chicago songstress is looking to delve into the world of fashion. Jennifer Hudson, 30, has announced plans to launch a clothing line. The line aptly titled ‘The Jennifer Hudson Collection’ will be released via QVC in September making it easily accesible to home shoppers nationwide.
“I feel like I represent every woman,” said Hudson about the The JHC. “I’ve been on both sides of the fence. I’ve been a big girl and now — whatever this is, the average size — whatever you want to call it. But I wanted the clothes to be where any girl could wear it — no matter what size you are — and you could feel comfortable in it.” The 14-piece collection will offer a range of sizes and “affordable” prices and serve as Hudson’s first attempt at fashion. The exact price range of ‘The Jennifer Hudson Collection’ is still unknown.
With her dive into retail, Hudson is joining the likes of her Dream Girls co-star Beyonce whose House of Deréon collection is still going strong. The ready-to-wear line featuring feminine clothing with a Hip-Hop influence has been widely successful since its debut in 2006.
Hudson’s line will have a less urban appeal than Beyonce’s and feature more form fitting basics including leggings, a personal favorite of the Oscar winning star. “I’m the legging queen,” said Hudson.”What I love about a legging is, again, it’s a piece you can dress up or down and it’s still comfortable.“
