Jay-Z’s Surprise Gift to Blue Ivy Carter

Jay-Z lets go of profane references for Blue Ivy’s sake.

If a father could do one thing to make the world a better place for his newborn daughter, what do you think it would be. World peace? Safer streets? Financial security? In the case of rapper and business mogul Jay-Z, since security and finances aren’t pressing issues for him and his family, and world peace is out of his control there is a small change he can make that would have far-reaching impact — stop using the word “b—-.”  Jay-Z is all to well aware of the influence his musics and his lyrics have on the actions and attitudes of youth here and over seas.  Check out Jigga’s letter to Blue Ivy Carter, he and Beyonce’s brand-new baby girl.

Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich,

I didn’t think hard about using the word B—-.

I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it

now with my daughter in this world

I curse those that give it.

I never realized while on the fast track

that I’d give riddance to the word bitch, to leave her innocence in tact.

No man will degrade her, or call her out her name

the women won’t despise her and call her the same.

I know it’s gonna miss me

cuz we been together like Nike Airs and crisp tees

when we all used to hang out front

singing 99 problems but a lady ain’t one.

Excuse me miss, can I be your mister

cuz I can tell the difference from a little girl and a sister,

She never grew up, her father left her alone

I promise not to talk like we used to

until Kingdom Come.

I’m so focused on your future,

The degradation has passed

I wish you wealth, health, and insight

forever young you may pass.

Blue Ivy Carter, my angel.

The artists who keep us captivated with their ability to spit rhymes and for those men — boyfriends, husbands, and fathers too — who listen intently to the words and mimic them in thought and deed, will have to be vigilante about protecting their children from the insults which might be leveled their way. They especially can’t add to the denigration of a generation and the degradation of girls and young women. Think about your favorite celebrity who is or may become a parent. How would you like their letter to read? What would your letter say?

Thoughts?

All of a Sudden degrading women will not be tolerated bc he has  a daughter?! The hipocrisy! On Watch The Throne he’s referring to Beyonce as a Bitc# “i got that Hot Bitc# in my home”. So up until jan 7, the word was permissible?! Im for children changing you and all but believe the sins of the father will be passed onto to his children. Jay is a little to late on this one!

      better late than never.

Wow, guess you needed hits really bad to post fake news.

Why show favor to only one of your children…You should have deleted it from your vocabulary when your very FIRST CHILD WAS BORN! Dont just delete it from your music but also from your everyday life! I am a Beyonce & Jay-Z fan welcome Team BLUE!

Wow, I believe in change. Good for you J. But you’ve already caused the damage and the consequences are already evident. Make amends by changing the mind-set of the generation you touched negatively. Go into the community and tell them face to face that you were wrong. Then you can show Blue Ivy your words have position influence and she can see you kept your word.

I do not or never did listens to rappers-  ryhmes, nor did I let my daughter and son  listens to it. my only problems is this …I thought when mr. carter married Beyonce he would stop using the B….word.
I heared this from my club members and mags. Why? Because bey was welled raised, she is not the things rapper thinks or sing about. in publc bey is a beautiful, well raised young lady, who has very excellent manners.I am not sure he use nasty downgrading words after they were married…most men do stop using those terms to women, especcially after they date a womensuch as bey.

    • Trevor/Trekei

You need to hear how a woman such as Bey talk on his mixtape.

so either way we’re not happy? We complain when people do wrong, then we complain when they want to change. Just when we could be celebrating strides people are making to better themselves and promoting our affection for the good contributions by OUR people to the community, we are too busy chastising them for their past.

if this was real it would be on his own site first… just like the song.  this is bogus.  but definitely a nice thought.  one thing i know for sure (as a father of a daughter) is that bitches and hoes will always be in existence.  stopping the use of the word does not make them disappear.  it’s about us men (and women) teaching our daughters how to carry themselves so they don’t fall into bitch/hoe category.

  • Joycehogi

Guess his wife & mother did not rate this same “respect”!

Jay-Z is gonna stop using the word bitch? Say word! The same dude who sold crack to his mama? Shut the front door! What a beautiful ode to baby Blue!

Funny how men expect others to respect their daughters when in fact they themselves have sh*ted on the daughters of many men (even the ones they later call the wife and/or the mother of their children). Too bad it took him to have a daughter of his own to deem women worthy of a little respect. Reminds me of the scene in the movie Notorious where (right after he calls Lil Kim a bitch and hangs up the phone) Big tells his daughter Ti-Ti to never let a man call her a bitch. LOL! Let us pray that Jay’s reverence to baby Blue rubs off on the masses.

Hey, perhaps if they have a son, he’ll stop using the word “nigga” as well! HA! Okay maybe that request was a bit much! Whatever the case, I guess its better late than later right…

    Gooooo Blue!

  • Shortie

He shouldnt have been using it in the first place.

  • Cocoabrown75

Now that you have a girl I guess the word b…. is no longer apart of your vocabulary..funny how people change when they have a little girl but before Blu came into the world every man and woman daughters were bitches, believe me when I say what goes around comes around and York little girl will be some man’s. Bitch

Are we wishing that she get’s treated badly just because of her father’s past? I would sure hope I wasn’t judged for what my father did.
