People were surprised when you signed with Disturbing Tha Peace.
Before I even made the move I had talked to Warner Brothers and basically told them that  I needed to get off because you know, Warner is basically a rock n’ roll label. So they really didn’t understand what to do with me, even though I … showed them two or three times, this is me — this is Scrappy, this is how I move. But they let me go [and] after that I went through a couple of label situations that weren’t too good, but I always had a stop and go relationship with Chaka [Zulu] and Luda and Jeff. Luda put his arm around me and told me some real gangsta sh-t. I was like damn, Luda is100. So they told me to come in for a meeting, which Don Cannon hooked up. The rest is history. My contract is beautiful. That was the best contract I ever signed.

What is so wonderful about your contract ?
I’m making money now. Im going to be making money even if everything [isn’t] good. Just being with Chaka the business man  there’s so many deals — we’re talking to Ciroc right now.

At what point did you realize it was time to leave Warner?
When I didn’t come out for two years. I came out in 2006 and then, the next two years I didn’t come out — and by the way —I’m getting older. The game was changing and people are ignorant. They don’t know the label f****d me over. It’s not because I don’t have no fans, or I’m not good, it’s because of the label situation. So I ended up here. But just being stuck in a situation, even with Jon, who is an artist and CEO, they still didn’t want you to get that shine. Shout out to Jon, but I feel like he didn’t really let me get that shine. But I always will respect Jon, I appreciate the love because he’s the one that put me out. But Luda was just 100 to me. I think this is a good situation, but if not, I’m gonna clown on them when everything goes wrong.

There’s probably a lot of other rappers who are in bad situations, what do you say to them?
Get you a manager and a lawyer and tell them to handle that. On top of that you gotta keep working. You can’t stop. That was my only thing, I used to stop working because I would get discouraged, but life is just like that. Anything you do in life you’re going to have discouragement. But you have to just keep it moving.
