Naomi Campbell Reveals Bald Spots During Vacation

For years now, we’ve all known about Naomi Campbell’s severely damaged hairline, which has been balding, thanks to her love for hair extensions. But just when you thought the story had blown over and that her scalp had perhaps healed, new images have surfaced showing Campbell’s hairline is just as bad as it was two years ago.

RadarOnline, who first reported about the supermodel’s diminishing hairline in 2010, recently published new photos of Campbell vacationing on a yacht in Ibiza. In the photos, Campbell’s wet wig is pushed back, exposing her bald pate.

The website spoke to a few hair stylists and specialists about Campbell’s hair nightmare and they all seemed as perplexed as we are.

“It’s hideous, what did she do? It looks really bad!” said hair stylist Kazumi Morton from the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills. “I have been doing hair extensions for years but I have never had a problem like this.”

“I think whoever put the extensions in they put them way too close,” Morton added. “Around the hairline and the neck, the hairs are very delicate and fragile and you need to avoid attaching extensions in that area. They are way too close to the scalp as well, they need to be at least a half inch away.”

Morton says that it’s not only the placement of the extensions, but the amount of time Campbell has used them.

“If she had been doing it correctly every time and not so often it wouldn’t have caused this problem,” revealed Morton. “Hair needs rest, at least every three months or so, so she is doing it too much.”

However, stylist Jennifer J. of Juan Juan salons in Beverly Hills and Brentwood, claims that Campbell can save her hair if she eases up on the weaves and begins proper hair therapy.

“There is a good chance that it can grow back again, but if the trauma continues, the damage is going to become permanent and the hair won’t return,” she said, adding that cortisone therapy prescribed by a dermatologist could help the healing.

Hopefully, Campbell will  let go of the weaves for a while and treat her hair. But she’s not the only star who’s had a bad weave day. Check out some other hair nightmares below. –nicholas robinson

Woo child! I swear, the lengths we go to for beauty are truly damaging in the end. I know the feeling though. I have had perms for most of my life and when glue-in weaves became popular, I jumped on board for that as well. Now years later, I too suffer from thinning. Fortunately, I’m not down to just scalp, but my hair is thin in areas and all I can do is pray that with proper care (in my natural state) it grows back luscious and healthy.

I must admit, going natural is definitely an adjustment and I truly miss my hair being styled, but the thought of what it will look like in a few months (its been 2 weeks since the big chop) has me gassed. My curiosity is peaked over here and I can’t wait to see the results. I would encourage all black women to look at these pictures as if it were there own head and decide what’s more important. How good you look to that man when you meet him, or you’ll look to that man once you take it off (I’m Gon’ Git You Sucka)… Besides, you can go natural and still rock a sew-in weave or a wig (Beyonce does, Solange does), and at least your hair will be strong and beautiful underneath. I’d rather be Gabby Douglas nappy (SMH at ignorance) with 2 Gold Medals and $90 million, than Beyonce beautiful with itchy edges and broke as hell!

Its sad that for some of these women though (black women) the damage is irreversible and there is no turning back.

Wow!… I’m truly distrubed by what I see!  I hope Naomi likes going bald because it might happen.

I just do not understand why these women wear those weaves.   In the end it does not enhance their looks it just take away their natural hair and have them looking like they are recuperating from serious burns to their scalp.  The only people benefiting from this is the people who sell it to them.  They (the manufacturers and the retailers) probably are having a good laugh all the way to the bank.  They look like horrible creatures with this disgusting look.  Sooner or later they will not be able to wear the weaves and they will not have any natural hair left.   Ladies embrace your originality with grace.  Women, Why do you wear these longass weaves that make you look like ridiculous creatures?  Why?
