Phylicia Rashad Directs ‘Immediate Family’ Play
Handsome Jesse Bryant Jr. is coming home for his brother’s wedding, and he’s hired his gorgeous Swiss boyfriend to take the wedding photos — needless to say, drama ensues.
Phylicia Rashad directs Immediate Family, an eye-opening play about a non-traditional black family with some very interesting kinfolk. Journalist Art Norman moderated panelists Rashad, Paul Oakley Stovall, playwright, and cast mates J. Nicole Brooks and Cynda Williams during a discussion about the play that took place immediately following the performance.
The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the Chicago Association of Black Journalists, and alumni of Howard University were also in attendance at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre event on Thursday, June 7.
