Nicki Minaj and her longtime boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, had one of the roughest breakups of 2014 when they decided to end their decade-plus long romance and ended up feuding with each other online. But now that the dust has settled on their split, Samuels recently revealed that he misses Minaj.

Samuels spoke about his feelings for Minaj in a new interview with Vlad TV, during which he was asked to address a recent tweet of his in which he wrote “Woulda been dope to do this 2gether. Starting to miss you.”

“I’m just saying exactly what it is. I’m not saying I want that back,” said Samuels. “I’m not saying that would be the best thing to do. I just know how talented I am and everybody else is about to find that out too … So it would have been … that’s what I meant when I said that.”

When asked if Minaj wanted Samuels to focus on his music while they were together, he replied no.

“She just wanted the focus to just be the way it was,” he said.

“Ain’t no female who’s with someone gonna want their man to be put in the forefront when they weren’t in the forefront the whole time, and then it’s going to be like ‘OK, now I got to worry about girls throwing themselves at him.’ I grew up around all women and that’s a big part of it,” he added.

Samuels was then asked if the relationship was one in which he and Minaj needed each other to function, to which Safaree replied, “100 percent. Both ways.”

Well, considering that Minaj stated after the breakup that she wasn’t sure how she was going to function without him, it’s not surprising that Samuels says they were dependent on each other. It’s also not surprising that Samuels felt like he was in Minaj’s shadow.

However, it seems like Minaj is moving on with Meek Mill and that Samuels, if the rumors are true, might be moving on with K. Michelle. Although, considering how popular K. Michelle is, he still might be overshadowed by her if they end up together.
