What drew you to this project?
I drew from personal experiences when writing this piece. I wanted to tell a story about real people who are dealing with real life issues, something anyone would be able to relate to.

Where you were born/where you were raised?
I was born in Kentucky. I was pretty much raised in California, from the age of seven until I went to college. I am a southern girl with a West Coast mentality.

Zodiac Sign: Leo

What do you hope viewers walk away with after seeing this project?
To take life seriously. Life is not a game and we only get one to live. So value it and live it to the fullest.

Who are your personals idols in the industry?
Definitely the late, great Whitney Houston was an idol of mine. Her voice was incredible and her acting ability was amazing. I am also a huge fan of Ruby Dee and the late, great Ossie Davis — I had the pleasure of working with both of them on a television show before — and Cicely Tyson.

Pop culture guilty pleasure:
I love food. I eat healthy very regularly, but at times I go for the bad stuff. Mexican food is my favorite, even though it isn’t always the healthiest for you.

What’s on your music playlist?
Monica’s new cd, New Life, is in heavy rotation. She’s an amazing artist with great vocals. Kirk Franklin, Erykah Badu, Fantasia, Trina Braxton, and Maroon 5, just to name a few.

Mac or PC?
PC for right now, but Mac is definitely in my future

Previous work?
I am best known for playing “Lavender” in the movie Matilda. Also, I appeared on “In The House,” “Moesha,” and “Steve Harvey” to name a few.

Three things you can’t live without:
God, my passion and love for my craft, and my biggest fan, my mommy.

“I’ll never understand
People can’t mean what they say and say what they mean … be honest.
