Thurgood Marshall College Fund Honors ING Foundation President Rhonda Mims

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) 23rd  Anniversary Awards Dinner, a strong advocate of the 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities and six law schools across the nation, boasts a distinguished roster of honorees for the awards ceremony. The main event, which will take place on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at New York’s Sheraton Hotel & Towers and will be co-hosted by Niecy Nash and Anthony Anderson.

This prestigious dinner in memorial of the civil rights activist and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall is the signature fundraising event for the fund, and it has significantly advanced the organization’s mission while championing academic excellence and supporting students at public HBCUs. 

This year’s awards dinner will recognize the achievements of some of the nation’s foremost visionaries who promote diversity, leadership, and community service on a daily basis. Neil Golden, SVP and chief  marketing officer for McDonald’s, Keith Wilcox, SVP of sales, LALA USA; Dr. George C. Wright, president, Prairie View A&M University and Rhonda Mims, president, ING Foundation and SVP, corporate responsibility and multicultural affairs. 

Rolling out spoke with Mims regarding the honor, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and her role on the board of directors. 

Mims, a former civil litigation attorney is responsible for creating corporate responsibility strategies which focusing on education, financial literacy, community outreach  and environmental sustainability for ING. She is also responsible for workforce diversity and diversity marketing as well.

Taylor Jr., president and CEO of the Thurgood Marshall Fund. 

Mims, who serves as a trustee for America’s Promise, an organization founded by Colin Powell, is also on the board of directors for the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta and is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta.  

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s 23rd anniversary weekend will include a series of seminars and workshops that will provide over 600 students with leadership and development training.
