Tyler Perry Makes Statement on Studio Fire, Photos Released of the Damage

Tyler Perry has finally released a statement on a four-alarm blaze at his famed Tyler Perry Studios last night. As previously reported, firefighters were called to the scene Tuesday to put out a blaze at his 60-acre movie lot.

“Atlanta firefighters responded immediately to a fire which damaged the back lot façade of one of the buildings at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta,” said a rep for Perry via email. “We are grateful that there were no injuries, and that 99 percent of the damage is limited to the back lot facade.  Mr. Perry wishes to express his heartfelt thanks to the Atlanta fire department for their professionalism in their quick response and limiting the damage.”

As the email mentioned, Perry’s studios received limited damage despite reports that a building partially collapsed. Since last night’s blaze, pictures have been released that show a charred building that looks otherwise in good standing. –danielle canada
