The secret sterilization of Africans has been the source of conspiracy theories for decades. However, this time, according to the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association, it’s true. The organization alleges that millions of Kenyan women and girls have been given a tetanus shot, sponsored by the United Nations, which can cause miscarriages.

The inoculations were part of an anti-tetanus campaign sponsored by the Kenyan government and two United Nations organizations. The U.N. agencies involved have been identified as the World Health Organization and UNICEF and it is estimated that over 2.3 million women and girls have been given the shot. Doctors sent six samples of the vaccine to a laboratory in South Africa and it was confirmed that all six samples tested positive for a drug known as HCG.  HCG is a known contraceptive according to The National Center for Biotechnology Information.

Dr. Muhame Ngare, a spokesman for the Kenyan Catholic Doctors Association, stated in November of 2014 that “This proved right our worst fears; that this WHO campaign is not about eradicating neonatal tetanus but a well-coordinated forceful population control mass sterilization exercise using a proven fertility regulating vaccine. This evidence was presented to the Ministry of Health before the third round of immunization but was ignored.”

Dr. Ngare and other doctors across Kenya were alerted to the problem by the way the shots were given. The shots were part of a series given only to women of child-bearing age.

“Usually we give a series three shots over two to three years, we give it anyone who comes into the clinic with an open wound; men, women or children,” said Dr. Ngare.

The health committee of Kenya’s National Assembly has ordered an independent inquiry into the claims.
