Chalk another one up for Peter Jackson as his film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, made easy work of its second closest competitor to easily take the weekend box office.

Though taking in slightly less than estimations, Hobbit’s $56.2 million was still enough to give it an impressive $350 million worldwide to dominate the global box office. The Ben Stiller led ensemble Night of the Museum: Secret of the Tomb came in far behind Hobbit to claim the second place spot with $17.3 million. The reworking of the family friendly musical Annie starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhané Wallis opened third with a modest $16.3 million, but is speculated to contend to reach the $100 million mark over the remainder of the holiday season. Last week’s top two movies round out the top five with biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings coming in fourth with #8 million and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part 1) landing at number five with $7.7 million.

Also of note, Reese Witherspoon’s biopic, Wild, jumped from the tenth spot to number six. Despite an increase in number of theaters, Chris Rock’s Top Five slipped to number seven with $3.57 million, and coming as a surprise to almost everyone, Bollywood comedy, P.K., found it’s way into the top ten with a reported $3.4 million.
