Will Smith is set to headline Paramount’s next big action flick, Bounty. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount recently acquired the rights to Sascha Penn’s crime-thriller script, a tale set in Boston which centers on a man who is wrongly convicted of murder. Determined to prove his innocence, he escapes from prison — a seemingly impossible task, after the widow of the man he allegedly murdered puts a $10 million bounty on him, dead or alive.

Not only will the 46-year-old be taking the reins for this role, Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment will produce the flick along with Adam Kolbrenner of Madhouse Entertainment, while Madhouse’s Robyn Meisinger will executive produce. Sounds like Smith is really back to his roots. While we love pretty much anything he does, we’d have to admit, we miss the good ole Independence Day, Bad Boys trilogy days …

In the meantime, Smith’s upcoming projects include Warner Bros.’ Focus, (hitting theaters on Feb. 27), football drama Concussion (out Christmas Day) and Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad, in which he’ll play a character named Deadshot. Looks like Smith has a busy year ahead of him. In anticipation of his latest role, let’s take a look back at his most memorable characters to date.
