Who knew that Drake could succeed at battle rap? The Toronto-born rapper channeled the hip-hop spirit of Nas and Ice Cube by devouring Meek Mill with the diss record, “Back to Back.”

Here are five ways Drake destroyed Meek Mill on the diss song ‘Back to Back.”

“Shout-out to all my boss b—-es wifin’ n—as!”

Drake gives Meek Mill the knockout blow by focusing on his position in the relationship. Nicki Minaj is more powerful in music and some may believe she’s downgrading by dating a rapper with less status.

“Is that a world tour, or your girl’s tour?”

Drake finds another way to show how Meek Mill is the less dominate figure in his relationship.

“Yeah, trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers.”

Drake uses Meek Mill’s aggression against him by calling out his choice to be a social media thug. There is an unwritten street code to be about more action than talk.

“You getting’ bodied by a singin’ n—a“

At this point in his career, Drake is comfortable with being the “emotional rapper.” He jabs at Meek Mill, a perennial street rapper, for losing a battle to a rapper who sings.

“I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more.”

Again, Drake plays on Meek Mill’s super emotional rant on Twitter. Drake suggests that Meek feels the need to prove himself to be hard core now that he’s in love.
