Mixtape Mondays: DJ Ice Cold’s Legend Series – Bobby Womack

The world truly lost one of the last great soul musicians with the death of Bobby Womack last week.

And though many music fans know his name, a weird thing happened on social media in the days following his death. Fans kept posting the Womack & Womack song “Baby I’m Scared Of You” in tribute to Bobby. The only problem is Bobby wasn’t in the group responsible for the dance floor classic. It was his brother Cecil and wife Linda that performed that particular dynamic duet.

Leave it to DJ Ice Cold to clear any confusion as he has put together a mix tape full of essential Bobby Womack recordings that’ll easily bring any novice up to speed. All the classics are here, including “If You’re Think You’re Lonely Now,” “Across 110th Street,”  and “Woman’s Gotta Have It.” Even some not quite as well known Womack gems such as the gospel flavored “Fly Me To The Moon,” and the heartfelt “How I Miss You Baby” are included in the mix to the benefit of the listener. Ice Cold could have restricted himself to a tight twelve songs of Bobby’s most choice work, but the addition of some of his celebrated album cuts adds depth to the montage.

In case you come across any friends that may be confused, do them a favor and enlighten them with this collection of gems from one of the best to ever do it.

Standout tracks include “That’s The Way I Feel About Cha,” “Fire  And Rain″ and “Daylight.”
