Rapper Remy Ma has been home from prison for little more than two weeks, but she’s thrown herself back into the oftentimes-hectic world of hip-hop stardom. With everyone clamoring to know what she has planned now that she’s finished a six-year stint in prison for assault, Ma is open and honest about how her approach has changed and how she’s changed in the wake of all that’s happened to her.

Remy Ma spoke to rolling out about her growth as a woman since she’s been incarcerated.

“I’m so much more grateful and humble,” she explains. “I feel like I don’t have to be boisterous or aggressive for people to get it — or to get my point across.”

“With me just appreciating every day and every blessing I’ve been given, I’m so much happier,” adds Ma. “Nothing really bothers me, nothing upsets me. There’s always a better way to handle things.”

And as far as returning to the world of interviews and photo shoots, the 34-year old says getting reacquainted with the lifestyle hasn’t been that difficult at all.

“This is normal to me,” she says matter-of-factly. “I’ve never been shy or been one to be nervous or get butterflies before any type of public appearance. This is cool, this is fun and it reminds me of how much I love my job. There’s a lot of people out there that hate their job and despise going to it every day but they have to to support themselves. I’ve been blessed by God to do something that I really, really enjoy and it comes with numerous perks.”

The Bronx, New York, native also acknowledged that she’s surrounded herself with people who have her best interest at heart, and they’ve been indispensable in helping re-acclimate her to the life of a rap star.

“I think that the people that I have around me are trying to make sure I have smooth days,” Remy says. “I know they screen everything and map out every detail of my day to try and make things easier for me. But I’m handling it pretty well, I think!”
