As we celebrate Black Music Month in June, rolling out is taking time to commemorate the artists who have had an indelible impact on the music industry in particular and on popular culture as a whole.
There is no suspense surrounding which album is number one, and there hasn’t been any since 1984 when a precocious child star transformed into a worldwide juggernaut with a heretofore never seen lethal combination of singing, dancing, songwriting abilities and fashion sense.
So as we pause to celebrate Black Music Month, we pay homage to those timeless classics which helped to define the generations in which they were produced.
