Philadelphia emcee Cassidy is, once again, in major trouble with the law. On Saturday, May 14, the former Swizz Beatz protégé was arrested in Hackensack, N.J., on a “high-risk warrant” after violating parole in his hometown.

According to rapfix.mtv.com, Hackensack police were alerted by Philadelphia police of the rapper’s open warrant and considered him armed and dangerous. Cassidy, born Barry Reese, was also named as a suspect in a murder case, as well as two additional murder cases in addition to the parole violation.

After the two police teams collaborated to form a plan of action, Hackensack police proceeded to follow Cassidy from his home to a local convenience store where an undercover officer confirmed his identity, before police officials closed in on the surprised rapper and arrested him.

Cassidy was then shipped off to the Bergen County Jail Annex, where reports claim that the rapper will be held until his extradition to Philadelphia to undergo questioning from the investigators handling the murder cases.

Hackensack police told MTV News that an official prepared statement concerning the arrest would be released to the media some time today, May 16.

This isn’t the first time Cassidy has faced such serious charges. In June 2005, a warrant for several charges including murder, attempted murder and assault was issued for Cassidy’s arrest following a shootout involving the rapper and two other men two months earlier. Cassidy was sent to prison in August 2005 and released eight months later after the most severe charges of his case were downgraded.

another black man with a gun, why is that extraordinary, Black people stop the violence, ‘no place for hate’. Promising careers and same old ghetto attitude. Please Black folk,we got to start making the change, the Klu Klux Klan may stop their hate tactics since we seem to be doing a better job of killing our own, Ghetto clowns and fools

If there’s evidence against him, then I can understand. But if he’s innocent, that’s another story.
