Chaka Khan Shows Off 60-Pound Weight Loss at the Kennedy Center Spring Gala
Chaka Khan is revealing the results of an exercise and diet regimen that’s left her 60 pounds lighter. The 10-time Grammy Award winner was spotted at the Kennedy Center spring gala on Sunday, May 6, raising money for arts education alongside David Foster. Also on hand was singer Jewel and Peter Cincotti, along with trumpeter Chris Botti, violinist Caroline Campbell and soprano Angel Blue. Khan reportedly stole the show with her slim and trim figure and incomparable vocals as she ran through her hits “Through the Fire,” “I’m Every Woman” and the newly penned “The Promise That We Make.”
Khan’s new body was no easy feat and is said to be the result of a nearly decade-long alcohol- and drug-free lifestyle. Like many of her fans, Khan’s s struggled with her weight and was recently diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure. Incensed by her diagnoses, Khan committed to getting healthy and is now free of both illnesses.
Before revealing her weight loss, the singer made headlines for rerecording her song, “Super Life,” under the title “Super Life: Fear Kills, Love Heals” in tribute to Trayvon Martin.
