In addition to Lil Wayne’s financial battle with his former mentor, Birdman, he now has to worry about a lawsuit from rapper David Banner for unpaid royalties.

Banner is claiming he was not paid for producing the songs “La La” and “P—- Monster,” two songs that were featured on Lil Wayne’s album, Tha Carter III, TMZ reported. He says that in 2008, he signed a contract to produce the songs, and in 2012, Young Money records told him that he was owed $138,787.19 in royalties. Banner claims he was never paid any portion of that amount.

Banner said this also happened regarding his production work on the 2009 song, “Streets Is Watchin’,” which was on the album, We Are Young Money and features Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda, T-Streets and Jae Millz. He says he’s owed over $15,000 for that song alone.

Lil Wayne is in a lawsuit battle with Birdman after the Cash Money co-founder stalled in releasing his album, Tha Carter V.  The rapper is suing Birdman for $51 million, and is also asking for the judge to grant him joint copyright ownership of all Young Money Recordings. He claims he feels like a “prisoner” while signed under Young Money/Cash Money and wants to be released from Birdman’s label.
