David Banner to Speak at Harvard
Mississippi rapper David Banner will make an appearance at Harvard University this month for an intimate discussion on the L.A. Riots. The Grammy Award winner will participate in a panel discussion during the university’s The LA Riots: Twenty Years Later Conference, which will take place April 27 and 28.
The conference will bring together leading scholars, activists and artists to look back at — and forward from — the L.A. riots.
Banner, who has been outspoken about the recent murder of Trayvon Martin and lives lost in the Tulsa, Okla., sniper shooting, will be joined by Henry Louis Gates Jr. and other panelists from Harvard University, NYU and Temple University.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to speak at Harvard … it is vital that we talk about what we can do to better ourselves and our communities; now and for the next 20 years,” says Banner. “The people of America, especially our youth, have the power to be heard, to change legislation and positively impact our culture for generations to come.”
